Yogyakarta
(some people call it Jogjakarta, Yogya, Jogja, or Jogya) is
a city with outstanding history and cultural heritage. Yogyakarta
was the central of the ancient Mataram palace (1575-1640), and
till now the kraton (the sultan's palace) exists in its real
functions. Besides, Yogyakarta has numerous thousand-year-old
temples as inheritances of the great ancient kingdoms, such
as the Borobudur temple established in the ninth century by
the dynasty of Syailendra.
Early
morning depart for 55 minutes fly to Yogya to enjoy the beauty
one of the world's wonders, the enormous and famous 8th century
Borobodur Buddhist temple with its 504 buddhist statues and
72 stupas, the popular manuscript, Mahakarma - vibhaangga, Jatakamala
and Avadhana stories. Another two smaller temples which can
be visited are the "Pawon" or kitchen temple with
its typical Javanese village and Mendut Temple or Wanamandhira
with its 3 metre high charming monolithic statue of Buddha Cakyamuni
still proudly standing in it. After lunch continued to Visit
the impressive Hindu shrine in Java, built in the 9th century,
PRAMBANAN Temple which is also well known as Rorojonggrang or
the Slender Virgin Temple with its open theatre where the Ramayana
Ballet is performed during full moon periods (from May To October).
The smaller temples such as the Sewu or thousand temple, the
former Plaosan monastery temple and Java's oldest Buddhist Temple
Kalasan are nearby. Fly back to your hotel in Bali
